"Our Biggest Competition is Sleep

One of the greatest pieces of advice we received in the early days of taking over Mushing Magazine was from a long-time subscriber who said, today you can get just about anything about mushing for free and instanataous, do better than that and create rich-content that will last a lifetime in your magazine.

This was such sage advice. Recently we were covering the Junior Iditarod finish and we counted at least a dozen fans/parents/race organizers/volunteers/and yes, even us, with our phones out and going “live” to capture the moment. All of us telling the same story to essentially the same audience. It was not a very effective media strategy.
