The new partnership will enhance the participant experience and give back to the local community in Alaska.

Willow, Alaska USA—First Paw Media, the parent company of Mushing Magazine and Team and Trail, has announced that it will be a presenting sponsor for the Chugiak Dog Mushers Association Dryland Derby on the weekend of October 5-6, 2024, in Chugiak Alaska.

“We are excited to partner with the race and be a part of and sponsor,” said Robert Forto, co-owner of Mushing. “Their commitment to bringing dryland racing to Alaska is exciting, and we plan to support the event and give back to the local community, which will reflect an ongoing commitment to the sport.”

Mushing is also partnering with a local non-profit that will be named soon, which supports the vision and mission of the newly formed Team and Trail Foundation. “Our goal is to advance an idea of community,” says Forto.“By lifting organizations that center on the voices of members historically and systematically overburdened by today’s challenges, where the organization is building community power and advancing advocacy efforts for long-term impact. We are doing this by offering five dollars for every entry in the race to be given to the non-profit.”

The International Federation of Sleddog Sports sanctions the Dryland Derby and will hold classes in junior, canicross, bikejor, scooter, and cart/rig races. The races will be held at the Beach Lake Trail System in Chugiak, just outside of Anchorage.
